Saturday 31st August 2013

As typical of saturday racing, it looks a difficult day from a betting point of view with lots of tight races & big fields dominating the cards, it would be easy to fall into the 'trap' & pick out plenty that you aren't that confident about which could be a costly mistake, while there should be some exciting races that should be interesting the action looks best watched today from my point of view so it shall be a NO BET day from me. Don't particularly like having these days off, but sometimes they are necessary & anyone who bets on the horses seriously can't honestly say they have selections everyday of the week. With the month drawing to a close today, it's a good time to update the profit & loss, It's been a solid/steady month of profit which is pleasing & although not quite reaching the heights of last month in terms if my personal points, the level stakes return is very similar. It's solid profit & these are the months that are needed to act as the 'Bread & Butter' throughout the year so i am happy with how things are going so far. Its good to see that the blog is getting some regular viewers & i hope it can continue to grow.

August - Profit & Loss

From 11 Days Tips = + 40 points profit (my actual figures)

Alternatively for a £10 level stake on each selection (so £5 EW for each way selections) this month (11 days worth of tips) the return would be = + £354 profit

It's been a nice & steady month making some decent profit, the blog will be back on monday where hopefully can kick start september with a good day. If you do get involved in today's racing be cautious & as always BE LUCKY.

Thursday 29th August 2013 - Daily Tips

A real trappy day yesterday which is why i only selected the one which paid off as it was a winning selection. Another poor day today by the looks of things, with lots of 'hard to call' events, i have picked out a few that look decent value for a small bet. Most racing is best watched again today & although i have got involved in a few, its only small stakes today.

Hamilton -

15:40 Best EW ANOTHER FOR JOE 13/2 = LOST (4/9)

Bit of a chance taken here on ANOTHER FOR JOE, looks to be back over a trip that will suit better today & in a race where only a few others make a decent appeal. Back in June this gelding ran a good second & fairly decent 6th both over 10f  admittedly was better off in the weights for these races but based on this form he looks to have a decent place claim in todays field (class 4). He did in fact win this race last year off a similar mark & under today's experienced rider Graham Lee. Showed some promise last time when finishing 4 of 9 over 8f. I think overall if he can bring his better form to the table today then his price of 13/2 makes him a decent EW shout & on a day where not a lot else appeals is worth a small stake.

Fontwell -

16:30 NICKY NUTJOB Win 7/2 = WON (1/6)

Has run very creditably on his last 4 outings over hurdles, most notably when roughly a length 2nd round this course over 24f in a class 5 at the beginning of August & had the race been over today's trip of 23f he may just have won it, that race also can in a much larger field than today. Also ran pretty well last time out in a class 3 (today's race class 4) 7 again was just outclassed on the flat & may have got closer over a furlong less. Looks well in on the weights today & the form mentioned above seems to transfer well into this race. If running up to his recent runs he could go close here. While the price is too short for the EW he is worth the smallish stake punt on the nose as he might just do it here.

17:00 PRINCLEY HERO Win 4/1 = LOST (2/7)

Very short price favourite in this one in the form of Maid of Silk & while he was a good winner last time out over 22f there is absolutely no guarantee that he will relish the extra 5 furlongs today over this 27f trip, especially when he has to carry a penalty. PRINCELY HERO has some good previous form over today's trip so there should be no problem for him on that front. Looks a versatile horse when it come to trips as he has won at varied distances. Back in march he finished 2nd twice over today's C&D in a class 4 race (class 5 today). Also was a decisive winner over 26f in april off a very similar mark. If bringing this form today then there is no reason he shouldn't go close around a course that he clearly likes & perhaps today will be his day at this trip. In all honesty i might be wrong & the favourite might take to the trip & complete a double, however he is far too short & under these conditions PRINCLEY HERO is a much better option in my mind so the odds of 4/1 look good value & he is worth the punt on the nose.

Killarney -

19:00 Best EW THE REAL ARTICLE 5/1 = PLACED (3/10)

Decent race for this one as pretty much all of Ireland's top jumps jockeys take to the stage here for a nursery chase so should be a decent encounter & i couldn't resist having a little EW punt on THE REAL ARTICLE who looks a decent prospect & is ridden by Barry Geraghty who in my eyes is easily up there with the best over the jumps. Was an easy winner last time out in a more valuable race than this all be it with only 5 runners, but he jumped round very soundly & wasn't really asked too much when stretching away comfortably at the end. That came over a furlong shorter but considering he wasn't asked too much today's trip should be no problem & this gelding finished 2nd of 14 over today's trip at Roscommon on good to firm, so that form looks fairly useful also. There are a definitely a few in with chances in this race but i think if THE REAL ARTICLE turns up here in the same mood as last time then he can certainly make a bold claim for the places & looks worth the EW bet.

Wednesday 28th July 2013 - Daily Tips

Well there really isn't nothing too much catching the eye today & on day's like these it is best to be sensible & most races look best watched in my opinion with it hard to confidently get behind much. As anyone who has been onto the blog much will know that i am not one for forcing a selection in every race possible like many tipsters, but i prefer to pick out the bets of the day which look best value in my eyes & i will always accompany them with supporting analysis to back up reason for the bet, Some days i might tip 10 horses that look good value & others it might only be 1 or 2 it really depends on the cards on particular day. Certainly for this afternoons cards anyway there is only the one that i am getting involved with & that is the first at Catterick.

Catterick -

14:10 - SKYES THE LIMIT Win EVENS = WON (1/7)

A 7 runner maiden for the opener here & SKYES THE LIMIT offers up the best form on paper, having ran a decent second on debut in similar conditions in a class 3 conditions race, Was only 5 of 7 following that last time out but that was on the AW & he can be forgiven that based on the surface in my opinion. Based on that solid debut effort there is no reason why he shouldn't go really well after a break today in a much less valuable race (class 6 maiden). unless either the debutants run an absolute stormer,  this should be SKYES THE LIMIT's to lose & this colt won't get too many better opportunities than this to get off the mark. Hopefully he can run a similar race than he did on debut & today could easily be his day, looks worth the punt at evens as on paper he has the strongest credentials.

Tuesday 27th August 2013 - Daily Tips

Today's Selections -

Ripon -

15:05 Best EW BOUNTY HUNTER 7/1 = PLACED (2/9)

Drops in class after last time out from a class 2 back down to a class 4 where this gelding has shown some decent form, most notably of which at York in July this year, finishing a close second of 10. followed that decent run by decisively winning a maiden race under today's jockey. if bringing forward that form today & since wasn't completely outclassed in a higher grade than this he could be slightly over priced & looks worth a small EW punt.

16:45 Best EW DESERT CREEK 7/1 = LOST (4/10)

Another one who drops in class here today, was pretty poor last twice in class 3's (today class 5) but looks to be coming back towards a decent mark & has nicely won in this class before. no better form than in the back end of 2012 completing a hat trick off similar marks as today & all in bigger fields & in a higher class. Admittedly carrying top weight is not ideal & will have to overcome that but if finding similar form to that just mentioned in this class of this mark DESERT CREEK could go well & is worth the EW in my mind.

Epsom -

16:30 Best EW EPSOM SALTS 9/1 = LOST (6/9)

Has been disappointing this year however, has been running over trips that don't look to suit & in better races than this one. One thing he does this gelding does have on his side is that he has dropped well below a previous winning mark round here at Epsom. Back in July last year was a tidy winner over C&D in a class 4 (today class 5). Will have to find some of his old form but if he can then he is off a dangerous mark & looks well weighted against this field. If getting it right against some rivals stepping up in class then he could well & while the EW is there he looks value for a small punt.

Ballinrobe -

18:05 - MAUDE ADAMS Win 3/1 = WON (1/5)

Admittedly this does look a tight affair even with this small field, Lady O'malley & Granny On Fire have been in great form & are likely to be popular, but they are both coming up the handicap & may find it a little harder now. MAUDE ADAMS is coming down the ratings & looks as if she could be well in here despite carrying top weight, won at the curragh over 8f earlier this year in a more competitive race than this (field of 13) & won quite easily to be honest. Has winning form over 10f also so today's 9f shouldn't be an issue, nor should the yielding ground. Last time out she showed some of her old promise when finishing 3rd of 14 at Naas. I could get this wrong & it does look tight but if MAUDE ADAMS finds her better form then she could go close, hopefully she can repay the faith!

18:35 - Best EW LAS ENCINAS 11/2 = PLACED (2/11)

Backed this filly last week EW over 10f at Sligo & she ran a solid second & travelled into the race really strongly. There is nothing to suggest that she won't go well again today & has the benefit of coming right from the foot of the weights. The drop back to 9f i don't think should cause a problem as she has shown form over shorter trips aswell. There was a lot to like about her strong travelling performance 7 days ago & if bringing that game today she can go well again & hopefully she can be at the right end of the field when it matters.

Sedgefield -

19:25 - CLAUDE CARTER Win 11/4 = FELL 3 OUT (Frustrating!)

Has shown some steady form of late, most notably when 3 of 14 at market rasen second to last time out off 2lb lower in the ratings. Seems to really like it here at Sedgefield & has always ran well here, including winning & finishing 2nd on his last two visits. Drops into a class 5 today for the first time in a while & looks to be one of the more solid options, hopefully he can find his previous sedgefield form & run a big race.

19:55 - MUTANAWWER Win 11/8 = WON (1/8)

Has made the frame on all three of his racecourse starts to date & was beaten only a neck over today's trip on debut & last time out only beaten by a head. Looks to be going the right way definitely in bumpers & today could be his best chance yet to get off the mark. Looks the strongest prospect for this race & unless Mccoy can get a blinder out of Dalstontosiloth or racecourse debutant Lacocodanza runs a stormer then this could well be MUTANAWWER's time to strike.

Monday 26th August 2013

Very short of time today & with the racing looking very trappy, lots of very open contests all around the cards. Its going to be a no bet day from me as i wouldn't want to pick anything without proper confidence & in all honesty who can say that they have selections everyday, some days are just best watched from my point of view.

Missed the start of august due to being abroad & since returning, its been a steady month so far, haven't quite reached the heights of last month yet, however it has been steady profit & after all in this game profit is profit.

Hopefully everyone has a good bank holiday & the blog will be back throughout the week.

If you do get involved in today's racing, be sensible & BE LUCKY!

Saturday 24th August 2013 - Daily Tips

No bet day yesterday, Thursday was a day of solid profit with 3 Singles winning & a double also from just 5 selections. Today looks to be a very tough day to call & admittedly there is little that catches the eye, particularly at the big meetings where it is very hard to convincingly side with much. There are a couple of short priced horses to like & that look worthy of their price tags, hopefully they can help to continue a week of profit.

Cartmel -

14:30 - ME AND BEN Win 4/5 = WON (1/6)

By far offers up the most solid form & there only looks like there should be two realistic challengers who both have questions to answer. ME AND BEN has placed on his last 3 starts in class 4 handicap hurdles & now drops down to a novice handicap, those last three have come over 20f, 18f & 21f & stayed on each time so the trip of 22f today doesn't look as if it should cause a problem. Mini Muck & Je'taime look the biggest threats, however mini muck is unraced over hurdles & is making her debut after 733 days off so unless she hits the ground running with an absolute belter she may not prove much of a problem & Je'taime finished a distant 5th last time out in a novice hurdle & was a mighty 85l behind the winner, carries 4lb more in the weights today & although goes with the 1st time fitting of cheek pieces she would have to improve a lot in my mind to win the race. I could get this wrong but to me it looks as if this is a golden opportunity for Fergal O'Briens mare to get off the mark & looks as if she won't get many better chances to do so.

Curragh -

17:25 - ERNEST HEMINGWAY Win 4/5 = LOST (3/5)

This O'Brien colt has been a winner on his last two starts, both in group 3's & both times has beaten today's second favourite. the first time over today's 14f by a convincing 5 lengths & last time out over the shorter 12f trip by just half a length but ERNEST HEMINGWAY coped with a rise that day & personally would have won better over today's 14f. weighted very similarly today, with in fact Royal Diamond carrying 3lb more. Voleuse De Coeurs was 3rd behind ERNEST HEMINGWAY when he won that 14f group 3 over C&D in late june, & This filly looks as if she would have to improve a fair bit today to take this race. ERNEST HEMINGWAY is considered a contender for the Irish St Ledger & this looks a good platform for him to complete the hat trick in preparation for that.

Also ME & BEN/ ERNEST HEMINGWAY DOUBLE TO WIN @ 2/1 = LOST

Thursday 22nd August 2013 - Daily Tips

Yesterday was on OK day which generated smallish steady profit thanks to some short priced winners & a good double paying 11/4. The EW's were frustrating yesterday, although they were advised as small bets in big field contests & unfortunately were unable to produce. Onto today & in my mind there isn't a great deal that stands out, which is why i've kept it down to a minimum of a few which look good value.

Ffos Las -

14:10 - KOULTAS KING Win EVENS = WON (1/8)

Has yet to win a race but is certainly going the right way having finished 2nd in 6 of his last 11 runs over hurdles, many of which came in better races than today & this could well be his time to strike. Finished 2nd last 3 runs all in class 4 handicaps (class 5 maiden today). Comes back today after a break & the Tim Vaughan yard are no strangers to getting winners straight from a break. Has the strongest consistent form in the race & certainly one of the better jockeys. If KOULTAS KING is going to get his head in front for the first time, then today is as good a chance as he is likely to get.

14:55 - Best EW JAMES POLLARD 13/2 = WON (1/8)

JAMES POLLARD Comes back over hurdles today after a time on the flat where he produced some not bad efforts. No doubt in my mind that he is stronger as a hurdler, last time out over hurdles he finished 5th of 10 in a class 3 handicap, & was a winner over today's trip in both February & April in class 3 & class 4 handicaps, drops into a class 5 claiming hurdle today & goes off a mark close to his most recent winning marks. If able to produce his previous hurdle form on his return today then he could be seen challenging at the right end of the race, worth the EW money.

15:55 - Best EW CHANGING LANES 13/2 = LOST (Pulled up)

Finished a modest 5th last time out but that was over the extended 27f & Had that come over today's 24f he would have got a lot closer considering he began to weaken 3f out. has winning form over today's trip & looking back he has winning form off higher marks than today. last time out was his first run this year so he should be better off for that & going over a more suitable trip today could he see finish closer to the front of the field. Useful claiming jockey Adam Wedge is claiming 3lb which is a positive & if building on that last run & finding some of his old form then today could be a decent day for CHANGING LANES.

York -

16:20 - Best EW SONGBIRD 5/1 = LOST (6/9)

Ran a very good neck second last time out over today's trip & in listed company. Before that was an easy winner of a handicap race. I don't think there's any doubt that this Lady Cecil trained horse has some class & today could be his big day, there are a lot of strong opposition, however lots of whom have something to prove today whether it be running in this company or over this trip. I really liked SONGBIRDS run at Newbury last time out & if bringing that form forward today with Queally in the saddle this filly could be up there are the end. While the EW price is available she is worth a punt.

Tipperary -

18:05 - FRIENDSHIP Win 6/4 = WON (1/5)

This O'Brien trained colt was an emphatic winner of a 7f maiden last time out, winning by 6 lengths & he looked like he could have given more if really necessary. It would be no surprise to see this colt improve even further & prove to classy for his rivals today, usually when the O'Briens field a runner in this size field they mean business. There are some decent rivals fielded today but i think if FRIENDSHIP turns up in the same mood as last time out he will be hard to beat. I could get this wrong but i believe this could be his stepping stone to bigger & better things in the future, therefore the punt on him here seems worthwhile. Wouldn't surprise me if come the off he was an odds on shot.

DOUBLE - KOULTAS KING & FRIENDSHIP both to WIN @ 4/1 = WON

Wednesday 21st August 2013 - Daily Tips

Yesterday wasn't the finest day with 6 EW's tipped producing no winners & just 2 2nd's getting place money, only small losses & hopefully can improve on what looks a good day's racing today.

York -

13:55 - Best EW LADY GIBRALTAR 11/1 = LOST & ABOVE STANDARD 7/1 = LOST (6/18)

Very big field to start the day here at York & these contests are usually are about & hoping for the best! because anything that wins will need the run of the race really. I have selected two for small EW plays. Above standard won a pair of handicaps recently (class 3 & class 4) & then continued to impress further when finishing a solid 4th of 24 runners in a class 2 at the Goodwood festival just 1 length behind the winner. His mark has improved again since that however this gelding looks very well in at the foot of the weights & if things go right for him today he may only need to reproduce that last run to get close. LADY OF GIBRALTAR has shown solid figures in big field handicaps this year finishing 363 in her last 3 outings all in class 2's & in fields of 19 15 & 14 so she is no stranger to this type of race. Also sitting right at the foot of the weights she should run her race again today & has the chance of being up there. Both worth small EW's in what looks like a classic big field handicap to open proceedings at York.

15:05 - TELESCOPE Win 13/8 = WON (1/7)

Took a 10f class 3 handicap in july with absolute ease waltzing home by some 24 lengths, As a result this Sir Michael Stoute horse was hammered into 4/6 favouritism last time out in a group 3 & was beaten a length by the impressive David Livingston. Having said this that was against older rivals he ran & on well that day & today's extra 12 furlongs look as if they should suit. Much more attractive price today & i personally think he's worth the punt to make amends for last time & go one better here.

15:40 - TORONADO Win 13/8 = LOST

All the money here will surely be or either AL KAZEEM & TORONADO & while the former has been in brilliant form this year maintaining unbeaten status in group 1 events, TORONADO has been in very good form himself, best of which when beating dawn approach last time out when impressively staying on to beat the 2000 GUINEAS winner late on. Admittedly there is the unknown here with TORONADO trying the extra 2 furlongs today but in my mind he stays on very well & that shouldn't be a problem. This race will be all about these two & the betting should back that up & i am willing to take the risk & back TORONADO to overcome the first time at the trip at end AL KAZEEMS winning run purely because i think TORONADO is the classier horse.

TELESCOPE/TORONADO DOUBLE also @ 13/2

16:20 - Best EW WYBORNE 8/1 & EAGLE ROCK 11/1 & HIGH OFFICE 25/1

Another very big field here & this time for the staying runners. Again there is a touch of pick out a couple & hope for the best but the 3 i have selected there is a lot to like about & for small EW plays they look worthwhile. WYBORNE i backed last time out when just got the run a bit wrong when finishing a decent 5th of 14 over today's C&D in a class 3 (today class 2) goes off the same mark here today & is ridden by 3lb claiming jockey Raul De Silva & although this is a step up in class he goes from the foot of the weights. Worth EW money. EAGLE ROCK i also backed last time out in the same race as Wyborne & he ran out the winner that day at a nice price of 12/1 (that was in fact my first day on the blog) has run again since that & finished a creditable 3rd over the same trip at newmarket of an upped rating & from higher in the weights. Also has the luxury of going from the foot of the weights here & if bringing similar form as the last two runs then is definitely worth a small EW punt. Finally HIGH OFFICE ran a decent 6 of 18 over the extended 21 furlong trip last time out in a class 2 & that perhaps stretched him too far, i think he will be suited better by today's trip & again comes from right at the bottom of the weights & at 25/1 is worth a small ew price as he could prove to be slightly over priced.

Lingfield -

14:55 - REMIX Win 4/5 = WON (1/5)

Won nicely last time out when upped to the 10 furlong trip, that came in a class 5 race & today's is a class 6, goes off only 1lb higher in the ratings & has Danny Brock claiming 5lb. In a small field where he also looks well weighted i think remix should be able to prove too strong & claim his second victory in a row.

Warwick -

19:00 - UMNEYATI Win 11/10 = WON (1/5)

UMNEYATI was a cosy win last time out in a class 5 nursery. Goes into a class 4 nursery today but in a small field where its hard to oppose him, has gone up 5lb in ratings for that last win & will shoulder top weight but it would be suprising if he doesn't run strongly again. The Dandy Man looks the main threat in this race & he actually finished in 3rd behind UMNEYATI last time out & i can't see any real evidence that he should be able to reverse the form today, so UMNEYATI looks a good bet here.

 ALSO REMIX & UMNEYATI DOUBLE @ 11/4 = WON

Musselburgh -

16:30 - Best EW BUSY BIMBO 6/1 = LOST

Has been running creditably lately over 6f which in my mind doesn't look his best trip, 5f does. Back over the 5f trip today & in fairness BUSY BIMBO does offer up some good form, last 3 outings over this trip have produced figures of 232. Looks to be well in on the weights today & if bringing his best form forward BUSY BIMBO can go close.

1705 - Best EW LEXINGTON BLUE 7/1 = LOST (4/9) & LOOK ON BY 11/1 = LOST (5/9)

Only the 8 runners here but really liked the chances of both of these & in the end didn't want to call it either way so have had them both on small EW plays (Something which will look pretty silly if they both fail to produce!). LEXINGTON BLUE has been in decent form of late for David O'Meara none more so than when finishing 2nd of 13 on the AW recently having shouldered a penalty for a recent 8f win on turf. Looks much better in the weights today & although slightly up in class he has shown winning form in this company over 7f, looks a pretty versatile horse at these sort of trips & could go well today at a nice price of 7/1. LOOK ON BY was a winner last time out over today's trip & in today class & in a much bigger field of 16 runners he won it nicely. his 8f form in behind that run looks very decent all be it mostly in class 6's. showed he could mix it in this company recently & if in the same form today could go well here from the foot of the weights.

Tuesday 20th August 2013 - Daily Tips

Unfortunately due to not having much time today i have had to cut the blog a bit short & leave out any supporting analysis, i will always try to get the analysis out as it backs up any selection with reasoning for people to see. However occasionally due to whatever reason i may not have time to provide analysis & this can't be helped & won't happen often. Here are today's best EW value selections none the less (in my mind).

Brighton -

15:15 - Best EW FAIR COMMENT 13/2 = LOST (7/8)

Sligo -

17:20 - Best EW SMOKE CHARGER 6/1 = LOST (7/12)

18:50 - Best EW LAS ENCINAS 11/2 = PLACED (2/10)

Leicester -

18:30 - Best EW IVANHOE 7/1 = LOST (5/8)

19:00 - Best EW COPPERWOOD 7/1 = LOST (5/10)

19:30 - Best EW LIL SOPHELLA 6/1 = PLACED (2/16)

Gamble responsibly & good luck to anyone getting involved in today's action.

Monday 19th August 2013 - Daily Tips

The last blog was on friday & it was a good day which generated solid profit with 1 winner & 1 placed from only 4 EW selections. Today in my mind is somewhat of a frustrating day of racing with the majority of cards dominated by weak maidens & either really big field handicaps or very small field handicaps. Have managed to find a few races that seem to offer up some good EW value, here they are;

Thirsk -

17:00 - Best EW SIR NOD 8/1 = LOST (5/11)

SIR NOD ran a good second in this race last year & from looking at things, this old boy looks to have a decent chance of hitting the frame again. Ran a close 2nd (beaten by a neck) last time out at Redcar in a class 6 (today class 5) & all be it off a lower mark, today's 5lb claimer can make up for the increase. The fact that this gelding ran a good race here last year under very similar circumstances & even off a 2lb higher official rating means that if putting that sort of performance forward today he has a good chance of being at the right end of the field at the post. 8/1 looks good value & is worth the EW punt.

Windsor -

18:30 - Best EW PIERS GRAVESTON 6/1 = NON RUNNER

Big field seller for this one, which is something that i wouldn't usually fancy however having looked through a lot of runners seem very easily to discount. Very short priced favourite who is easy to like based on recent form however i think she is very short based on realistic chances. PIERS GRAVESTON in my mind looks to have a similar chance & is much better value at 6's, ran a solid 3rd of 13 last time out in a class 6 handicap (this a seller so should be a weaker race) off 1lb higher in the OR doesn't show spectacular form before that but that run was his first go at the trip & it seemed to suit nicely. If able to put forward a similar run today then this gelding looks to have a good chances of hitting the place money.

Wolverhampton -

19:50 - Best EW BLACK TRUFFLE 7/1 = PLACED (3/11)

On paper this horse shows probably the best AW form on offer & is very consistent on the surface for that matter with figures for his last 5 runs on the AW reading, 25122 all but one come in fields of 12 runners or more. Ran on well to take second from a poor position last time out & although could not reach an impressive winner produce a good late run staying on very nicely. Was seen winning on the AW back in june in a 14 runner race all be it off a 5lb lower mark but run on very well that day aswell & last time out ran off a mark only lb lower. Looks well in towards the foot of the weights for this race & ultimately if BLACK TRUFFLE is bringing near his top AW game then he could be overprice at odds of 7/1 & is worth the EW money.

20:50 Best EW OPUS MAXIMUS 12/1 = LOST

Have selected one here in this biggish field that the market suggests is a relative outsider, however in my mind he looks to offer up some of the better AW form in the race. OPUS MAXIMUS, has run two 9f races on the AW this year & has finished 4 of 12 & 2 of 13 both Over C&D & both from only 1lb lower in the ratings, Also has the luxury of going off lowest weight in the race today, when finishing second here in late june he beat today's second fav by 2 & 3/4 lengths. If bringing that sort of form today then in my mind this gelding looks overpriced & has the chance of hitting the places.

Friday 16th August 2013 - Daily Tips

No blog yesterday but wednesday turned out to be a decent day which made some nice profit. Onto today & i can't see too much that catches the eye, however there are still a few picks that looks of value & here they are;

Newcastle -

1545 - Best EW MASH POTATO 9/2 = WON (1/8)

Backed this horse on monday & he ran a very creditable second behind a horse that looked very well handicapped & was a whole 12 lengths clear of the rest. If this doesn't come soon he looks in good enough nick to go close again off the same mark & has the luxury of carrying lowest weight now upped from class 6 to 5, looks definitely worth the EW money.

Catterick -

18:40 Best EW HELLO BEAUTIFUL 7/1 = LOST (4/9)

Two good efforts at york recently in class 3 nursery events, finishing 3rd & 4th both over 5f. Into a class 4 handicap today over 6f & the furlong extra does look as though it should suit considering she was running on well last time out. Same mark here today & looks good on the weights, if the suspected improvement for the extra furlong occurs then this filly should make a bold bid for the place money.

19:45 Best EW PRIGSNOV DANCER 11/2 (got guaranteed price boost which paid 8/1) = PLACED (3/13)

Ran really good race 10 days ago over the C&D & was very unlucky to finish second just getting pipped on the line after squeezing through to lead close home when short of room. If turning up today in similar form this gelding could go close again off the same mark & at from the foot of the weights. While the EW price is available he looks a decent bet.

Newmarket -

19:35 - BEST EW PETRIFY 5/1 = LOST (5/9)

Ran a decent third last time considering the winner from that race has gone on since to post a good second in a class higher. last time out was this geldings first run over handicaps & hailing from Luca Cumani's stable it would be no surprise to see him improve for that run. 1lb lower in the ratings today & looks good near the foot of the weights. If following up here with another decent run then the place money could be reached by PETRIFY & he looks worth a EW punt.

Wednesday 15th August 2013 - Daily Tips

Slowish Start back on monday with just the 1 winner & 1 placed from the 5 selections & 3 2nds! very frustrating there, but on to today's selections, lots of trappy looking events today so mainly EW picks selected hopefully have found some good value, here they are;

FFOS LAS -

15:00 - Best EW GREYEMKAY 7/1 = PLACED (2nd)

This gelding has been in good form of late particulary over the course & distance when finishing 3rd & 1st respectively in 2 of his last 3 outings. 3 runs back winning here off only 2lb less in the handicap under the same conditions as today & under the same 7lb claiming jockey, Similarly last time out ran a good 3rd off today's mark under the same jockey, so if bringing this form forward today, reaching the frame looks likely, worth the EW money at this price.

16:40 - WHITE MONTH Win 4/1 = LOST (2nd)

Owned by Her Majesty The Queen this gelding has shown some good form recently, placing on his last 3 starts. Twice in class 5 handicaps over today's trip off similar marks & last time out in a maiden. Although these three promising runs came on the AW if capable of transferring this form to the turf today then he wouldn't need much more to get involved although upped to a class 4, doesn't look the strongest of fields & the mount of 7lb claimer Oisin Murphy looks to sweeten this one a little more. Hopefully Her Majesty has a winner with this one today & i think a small punt on the nose is viable.

Yarmouth -

17:35 - BEST EW MUFTARRES 7/1 = WON (1/8)

Shows some steady form figures having placed on 3 of his last starts & only finishing 1 place outside the placings on the other two. 2lb lower in the OR than last time out when finishing 4/10 over today's trip & is also ridden by 7lb claimer today, if putting forward similar form that he has shown of late & the claiming jockey has the desired effect MUFTARRES could ultimately go close & is worth EW Money.

Gowran Park -

18:25 - BEST EW BENSOON 11/1 = LOST (missed break from stalls!)

Admittedly this looks a tight event, where a case could be made for a few. However BENSOON looks a little overpriced when looking at his form. Has run over some different trips this season, but has shown best form over today's trip of 12f. Ran a decent 3rd last time out off today's mark & ridden by 3lb claimer today so if putting that sort of run forward it may not take much more to hit the place money & therefore i think is worth the EW money at a nice looking price.

19:25 - BEST EW CASTLE GUEST 6/1 = WON

Again here it would be easy to make a case for a number of these but in my mind at this price castle guest looks to have probably the most solid profile as far as EW money is concerned. Was a decent winner last time out having made all at leopardstown over 10f. Upped 5lb in the rating for that win but dropping back to 9f today looks as if it would suit & he goes off the lowest weight in the race today.have to admit taking a chance here as i tend to usually stay away from horses that go off a career high mark but he looked good last time out & i personally think 9f would have seen him win easier last time so that should suit. Similar run as last time out could see this gelding hit the frame.

Beverley -

15:45 - Best EW WILD SAUCE 9/1 = PLACED (3rd)

This filly has shown some encouraging form of late when finishing 2nd & 3rd on her last two runs over today's trip of 5f. Particularly since last time out came in a class 4 & today's race class 5. Looks to be on a competitive mark & is well drawn here to pose a threat, ridden by useful 5lb claimer Joshua Newman this filly looks be of pretty solid EW value at odds that i can't help think may just be a tad overpriced.

16:20 - Best EW SAINT THOMAS 7/1 = LOST (4th)

Shows impressive form figures in recent runs, winning once & placing in 4 of his last 6 runs. Seems to like it around here (beverley) As 4 of those runs have come here including the win. Was slightly disappointing last time when backed into shortish favourite. Looks better off in the weights today (one of the lowest) & goes on same mark as last 3 runs one of which when finishing very close second here. The experience Graham Gibbons takes the ride today & this gelding should run another decent race once more & is worth the EW money.

Salisbury -

15:55 - HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE Win 4/1 = LOST (2nd)

Although having to shoulder top weight here it is seemingly hard to get away from HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE, who was a good winner last time out when going over today's trip for the first time, Only 3lb higher for that win & shouldn't need to find too much more here to go close since personally i found it hard to make a better case for anything else in the race for win purposes. While the price is too short for the EW, 4/1 is worth a small punt on the nose.

Monday 13th August 2013 - Daily Tips

Finally back after a break to get August's blog off to a late start. Have to be honest & say that slighlty disappointed with the racing on offer today & was hoping to come back to something better, with not much over the cards really catching the eye. There a few that look of decent value & worth the punt so here they are;

Ayr -

16:30 - Best EW MASH POTATO 9/2 = PLACED (2/11)

Ran a creditable 3rd last time out at windsor over today's trip in a class 5, dropped into class 6 today & going off 1 lower in the OR. Will have to carry top weight in this one but is ridden by a 5lb claimer (Connor Beasley) & if he has the desired effect then there is no reason why another decent run for the place money could be on the cards.

Thirsk -

20.00 Best EW ROCKET RONNIE 5/1 = WON (1/10)

Been in very solid form this year & showed that he was capable off running well off an improved mark last time out when finishing a creditable 3rd of 16 over today's C&D. Goes off the same mark today & he is capable of reproducing that form in today's contest then there looks no reason why place money cannot be obtained again. All the time the price is available it is worth the EW money.

Windsor -

18:10 - HI FILWAH - Win evens = LOST (2/8)

Usually not too keen on maidens unless something does look to stand out. Hi Filwah does look to have a found a good opening here to get off the mark having finished 2/3/2 on his three starts to date, most notably of which when narrowly beaten into second last time out. Ryan Moore gets the ride today & should give a bold showing at just about a backable price.

18:40 - REGAL SILK - Win 11/8 = LOST (2/8)

Another Ryan Moore runner here & one which was very impressive when winning a maiden by a margin of 5 lengths & looked as if he should have more to offer. Into a handicap race today & going off only 1lb higher, This combined with the fact she goes off lowest weight should stand her in good stead for another bold showing, Hopefully this Noseda filly can get past the post first & looks worth the punt on the nose to do so.

Ballinrobe -

19:20 Best EW DAWERANN 5/1 = LOST (4/10)

Has been showing some good form figures of late, Most notably when winning off 4lb lower in a 17 runner maiden at roscommon & when running a decent fourth at the galway festival off today's mark behind the impressive diplomat. if putting the same sort of run ar that forward here today then there is no reason why this gelding shouldn't go close, Barry Geraghty in the saddle is never bad thing either, worth the EW money.
